New Co-manager for Saccfug, and other updates

July 09, 2008

Big news (for me) -- I'm going to be the new co-manager for the Sacramento ColdFusion User Group; Seth (the group manager) made the announcement at last night's meeting. We'll both be working hard to improve the group, and increase attendance at the meetings. I'm really looking forward to working with Seth and being more involved in the local ColdFusion community! In related news, thanks to everyone that came out to last night's meeting! Wow, such a great turnout for the "Introduction to CFCs" presentation...it was essentially a packed house, leaving a few folks watching from out in the hallway due to lack of room (sorry guys). I'll be giving my follow-up presentation, "Intermediate Uses of CFCs" next week at the Bacfug meeting down in San Francisco. If you've looked at CFCs, but still haven't had a "light bulb moment" happen making you feel like they're useful, this may be a good presentation to attend (or watch via the Connect link). I'll be going over Singletons, Beans, DAOs, Gateways and maybe a couple other goodies if we have time. No knowledge of a framework required -- all the code we discuss will be things you can do with just 1 or 2 files and with minimal "extra work". Hope to see you there! -nolan
