Reading List From 2012

January 09, 2013

It's that time again where I post a list of the books I read this year, and make some comment about how I didn't read nearly as much as I would have liked to, but I did accomplish other things during the year as well...

Mustaine: A Heavy Metal Memoire - Dave Mustaine
Death Row - William Bernhardt
My Appetite for Destruction - Steven Adler
Getting Organized in the Google Era - Douglas Merrill
The Power of Small: Why Little Things Make All the Difference - Linda Thaler and Robin Koval
Red - Sammy Hagar
Bunny Tales: Behind Closed Doors at the Playboy Mansion - Izabella St James
American Hardcore: A Tribal History - Steven Bush
Universe In a Nutshell - Stephen Hawking
Me of Little Faith - Lewis Black
97 Things Every Programmer Should Know - Kevlin Henney
Sex Drugs and Cocoa Puffs - Chuck Klosterman

I read "Sex Drugs and Cocoa Puffs" for the second time this year -- it didn't make me laugh as much as the first time, but it did remind me why I love Chuck's writing so much. He and I should be friends. Other highlights included "Getting Organized in the Google Era", "The Power of Small", "American Hardcore", "Me of Little Faith" (it's not what I expected from Lewis Black at all...took a few chapters for my brain to adjust, but I'm glad I read it), and "97 Things Every Programmer Should Know".

Don't waste your time with "Bunny Tales"...that was terrible. My old roommate would probably like it a lot, but then, she thought the movies "Sex and The City" and "Legally Blonde" were guides for how real life should be. Seriously. :)
