The First SacInteractive Meeting Was a Success!

April 12, 2013

Three days later, I finally have a few minutes in front of my computer to sit down and regroup. :) (I've been teaching a jQuery class on-site at a client office for the last 2 days and haven't had much time to catch up on other things.) On Tuesday night Seth Duffey and I ran the first meeting for our new group, SacInteractive. As I mentioned before, we did a complete overhaul of what was our Sacramento ColdFusion UG, expanded the focus to "all things web/mobile development", re-branded the group, and basically started anew. I was incredibly antsy all day Tuesday. We had a new venue, new group name, new topic, were promoting the group in entirely different ways. I was unsure if we'd have anyone show up at all, or if we'd have hundreds of people.

The end result was, dare I say, perfect.

Attendance was in the mid-20's, and was made up almost entirely of new faces (plus Rob, Olen, and Bill from the always-rad Sacramento Adobe Users Group). Seth's PhoneGap preso was great, showing demos of how to build an app in both XCode and Eclipse, even getting the app to run on an iPad right there in front of everybody.

We received lots of great feedback from the attendees. Several people gave requests for topics they'd like to see in the future, and others volunteered to give presentations for us...I'll be tracking down all of you shortly, and committing you to dates. :)

The folks at Hacker Lab were incredibly helpful. It's amazing how easy they've been to work with, answering all our questions, and providing everything we needed to run a successful meeting. FYI, there are a ton of other great events always happening at Hacker Lab; check out their calendar page when you get a chance.

Thanks everyone for coming out and supporting the group. I think Seth and I are both inspired, re-energized now, and looking forward to growing the group as much as possible.

If you'd like to attend a meeting, follow us, or just say hi, you can can find more info about SacInteractive at the website, facebook, or twitter pages.

Thanks for listening.
