Speaking at CF Summit East 2024

March 26, 2024

The kind folks at Adobe have invited me back to speak at CF Summit East 2024 in Washington DC. Sometimes called the “Government Summit”, this is the east coast ColdFusion conference, making it an easier option for the east coast CFML developers that can’t always make it to Vegas -- with content unique to this DC event.

This year, I’ll be giving a completely revamped version of my talk “MVC With and Without A Framework”. Several years ago I gave this talk at CF Summit in Vegas and it was very well received. The updated version will include all the same content as before, plus several additions that I really think will help struggling CF developers looking for help moving into modern web development practices.

The general idea of this preso is to show how easy it is to stop using legacy code (cfincludes and table based HTML) and start migrating over to an MVC based structure. This talk does not require any knowledge of frameworks! And we’ll even do a quick primer on CF Components just in case attendees aren’t familiar with those either.

Plus there are 2 tracks full of other great sessions. You can learn about everything from Web Components, to maintaining CF servers, to the updated PDF 2.0 engine, improving code quality and lots more!

And did I mention the conference is FREE?! You just have to register.

Want to get certified in Adobe ColdFusion? There is also a pre-conference workshop on April 23 designed to help developers ask questions and review training materials before taking the ColdFusion Certification test. I’ll be part of the team helping to run this workshop  — you can register for that here. (Note, the Certification workshop is not free — more info is available at this link.

Hope to see you in DC!  --Nolan
